Summary
In Chapter 3, Dan was nearly three years sober. He had gotten a job at the Helen Rivington House and was also doing volunteer work at the hospice when it came time for residents to die. Casey served as Dan’s sponsor in AA. He insisted that Dan attend weekly meetings and do daily gratitude meditations. As Dan listened to other people tell their stories of the things they had done when they were drunk, such as one lady’s story of hitting a man with her car and leaving without checking to see if he was alive or dead, Dan thought he would rather go back to drinking than tell the story of Deenie.
