Summary

Scene IV

Wagner calls to a clown in the street. Wagner tells the clown that he will give him a great amount of money if he will become his servant. The clown does not want to work for Wagner, but Wagner conjures two devils to scare him. The clown finally agrees, but only if Wagner will teach him to conjure.

Scene V

The good and evil angels try again to talk Faustus out of his deal with Lucifer. Faustus refuses to listen. Mephistophilis comes to Faustus and tells him that Lucifer has enthusiastically agreed to the deal. Mephistophilis tries to talk Faustus out of it, telling him that hell is anywhere outside of heaven and he might think twice before choosing it. Faustus blows off Mephistophilis’ arguments.
