Summary
In Chapter 10, “Leïli’s Revelation,” it is the summer of 1979. Kimiâ is tall and gangly. She prefers playing outside than indoors. She imagines herself behaving like her father one day. One day Leïli tells Kimiâ that her behavior will make everyone think that she is a lesbian. Though Kimiâ rejects the notion that she is a lesbian, privately she recognizes the truth of this suggestion. Kimiâ remembers reading an article about the genetic history of homosexuality and at the time believing that she has inherited her homosexuality from her uncle.
