Summary
In Chapter 34 Catherine is at her mother's house, having traveled there after Robert kicked her out. She tells her mother that Robert is out of town and they have a construction crew at the house so she did not want to be there alone. Catherine tells her mother she has a headache and just wants to lie down and try to get some sleep. Catherine undresses and lays beneath the covers in a twin bed (the room has two twin beds and Catherine's mother sleeps in the other). Her mother comes in the room shortly after and gives Catherine a glass of water and some aspirin. Catherine listens to her mother go about her business, showing the occasional signs of dementia such as telling someone on the phone Nicholas is at home with a nanny. Catherine is still awake when her mother comes...
