Chapters 1-6 Summary
New York City is the backdrop for Stuart Woods' novel Dirt. Amanda Dart is a famous syndicated gossip maven who receives a shocking fax. The fax, which bears the title DIRT, reveals tantalizing information about Amanda that she would prefer be kept quiet. However, after news of a secret weekend with her married lover is released, the buzz begins and Amanda is professionally and personally humiliated. More than being embarrassed, however, the gossip game's "Queen Bitch" needs to stop the proverbial bleeding, identify the leak, and do some damage-control. Amanda Dart hires Stone Barrington, former NYPD detective, to dig up the dirt on DIRT. What ensues is juicy to say the least, as Amanda is not DIRT's only not-so-innocent target.
