Chapter 40 - 42 Summary

Susan tries to rush past Chartrukian and Hale to get to Strathmore but Chartrukian grabs her arm and tries to warn her that TRANSLTR has a virus. Susan frees herself and tells him that he was ordered to go home. Chartrukian begins to argue with her when Strathmore yells at them from his office.

Chartrukian insists that TRANSLTR is infected, and the virus is a threat to the main databank. Strathmore demands to know how a virus could get past Gauntlet. Chartrukian tells him that he ran a full analysis and found mutation strings. Mutation strings are very common in computer viruses and can corrupt data. Susan is not concerned, because she knows that the mutation strings are part of Tankado's program. She believes the mutation strings are harmless.
