Chapter 22 - 24 Summary
David approaches the man on the cot. The man is Pierre Cloucharde, a freelance writer, who believes that David is with either the city or the Bureau of Tourism. He thinks that David has come to persuade him not to write anything negative about his trip. Cloucharde is adamant that his article will reveal everything he has experienced.
David convinces Cloucharde that he is with the Canadian Consulate and is checking on him as part of an informal diplomatic courtesy. David tells Cloucharde that he would like to make a formal complaint to the city and that Cloucharde's testimony would be very valuable. Cloucharde is flattered and David asks him to start with the accident that happened that morning.
