Chapter 10 - 12 Summary
Strathmore tells Susan that the NSA had nothing to do with Tankado's death. He received a phone call early that morning from COMINT, the agency's global reconnaissance division that Tankado died of a heart attack.
Susan questions how Tankado could have died of a heart attack at the age of thirty-two. Strathmore tells her that Tankado's NSA physical showed he had a congenital heart defect. It would not be unlikely for someone with a weak heart, who was under a lot of stress to have a heart attack, especially with the heat in Spain.
Strathmore knows Tankado was traveling alone and believes it is possible his partner may not yet know he is dead. The Spanish authorities have agreed to contain the information as long as necessary.
However, the circumstances could make the NSA appear to be responsible for Tankado's death...
