"The House of the Beehives" is told from the unique first-person viewpoint of a hermit. He lives in a house hidden by rocks and engulfed by thick woods which get thicker every year. He harvests his food from the woods, killing only as much as he needs to eat. The hermit never goes to town anymore, and avoids people when he can, seeing them as a blight on the earth.
