Apt Pupil, Chapters 8 to 11 Summary
Kurt Dussander goes to dinner at Todd Bowden's house. Todd's parents, Dick and Monica, are charmed by Dussander, which unnerves Todd. Dussander dreams that inmates of the camp are coming back for him. He lures a cat to him using milk. He thinks about how prisoners at Patin sneaked in items with them, and how he used stew to tempt the inmates into ratting out the others. He catches the cat and cooks it in his oven, thinking the cat's yowling sounds like a young boy. Todd comes to Dussander with a letter from Ed French, the school's guidance counselor, to Todd's parents. French wants to meet with them because of Todd's grades. He tells him they will be caught, since his parents know the visits to Dussander are the only thing that's changed in Todd's life...
