Apt Pupil, Chapters 1 to 7 Summary
Todd Bowden, a thirteen-year-old All-American boy and good student living in Santo Donato, California, goes to Arthur Denker's house. When Denker answers the door, Todd calls him Kurt Dussander, the name of a Nazi who ran a concentration camp at Patin in World War II. Denker tries to say he is not and threatens to call the police, saying he was a worker in a motor factory during the war and did not fight. Todd calls his bluff, and Denker admits he is really Dussander. Todd tells Dussander about his interest in World War II, which began when he found old magazines describing the war. He recognized Dussander on the bus one day and began following him, even taking his fingerprints. Todd shows Dussander pictures he had taken of him. Dussander asks Todd what he wants, assuming...
