Chapters 24-26 Summary
Webster, Mac, Brogan, and Milosevic fly to the Mojave Desert, where the truck used by the kidnappers was originally purchased. They speak to the local sheriff where the owner of the truck lived. They learn that the truck's owner was a farmer who lost his farm when the bank foreclosed on it. The farmer had a son, Beau Borken, who was a trouble maker. Three of the kidnappers the FBI has identified were friends of Borken's. A fifth person also hung around with Borken, named Odell Fowler. All five disappeared about the same time shortly after the death of the farmer. From there the FBI went to Peterson Air Force Base. There they speak to Johnson's aide and learn that several bases are being closed down in the aftermath of the end of the Cold War. When they speak to Johnson...
