Summary

It is late December in Chapter 24. Hazel hates Christmas. Hazel was Christian but never really celebrated Christmas. Kitty goes to Telescope to work on the script by reciting lines aloud. When she returns home, Richard is outside her home. She quickly brings him inside, and he explains that he moved to California, but Kitty refuses to re-engage in a relationship with him. Kitty realizes that she is in a better position as a single white woman than she would be as a married Black one. When Emma comes back, she is engaged, but she gets upset when Kitty asks her if she told her mother.

Kitty has redone the entire script for "The Misfits." Nathan is hurt that so many changes have been made, but he takes those changes and puts his name on them, hurting Kitty. He gives her a lot...
