Summary
As Chapter 21 opens, Nathan wants Cora fired. He thinks that she is taking all of his father’s money. Kitty does all she can think of to help Cora keep the job. Cora has been Abner’s mistress for about 15 years. He keeps everything on hiatus against Kitty’s advice, and there is mutiny on the set and people ask for his removal. He gives in and okays some projects. Nathan asks Kitty to help him with scripts. Kitty feels pulled to Nathan, and she sends the letter to Richard ending their relationship.
It is November 1955 as Chapter 22 opens, and Lucy wants to take Kitty to Blair House. At Blair House, Kitty meets Black women of every color of the spectrum, but they do not like Emma. Laurie and Cora are among the women there, and Kitty learns that Blair House is...
