Summary

Chapter 1 is told from Elise St. John’s perspective, and it opens on October 28, 2017. Elise is standing on a perch looking as her mother, Sarah, paces in a labyrinth outside and her father is in his bunker. Her driver, Andy Davis, and her best friend and publicist, Rebecca Owens, come to pick her up. Elise goes to a conference meeting with people concerning her newest movie, and Tom, the studio head, wants Elise and her Aaron Oliver to announce their wedding to bring publicity to the movie since the couple is no longer in the media as much.
