Summary
Mrs. Mackelroy is the new math teacher and complains about her kids being in gym right before her class. The principal decides Greg and his classmates must shower, but only Rogert Townsend, held back two years, is okay with it. The rest of the kids just wet their hair to give the appearance of having showered, but they are still smelly. This reminds Greg of crawling through the drainage pipe in the neighborhood to avoid Fregley during the summer, resulting in Greg’s being smelly, and his mom giving him deodorant and a book about puberty called “What the Heck Just Happened to my Body?” as a gift.
Greg’s mom calls a family meeting. She announces she will be returning to school to stimulate her mind. This means that a few nights out of the week, the men must care for themselves...
