School gymnasium
The school gymnasium is host not only to gym class during the novel, but to the Valentine’s Day Dance. The Dance is given a Midnight in Paris theme, and is well-attended by the student body. Around eight, however, dozens of elderly citizens show up for a senior center meeting. It turns out the gymnasium has been double-booked. The seniors and students appear poised for a fight with one another until it is suggested the gym be partitioned. Both sides agree to having the gymnasium split in half. However, the students must keep their music low until the senior meeting is finished. Upon finishing up, the seniors wander over to the dance, helping themselves to refreshments and taking to the dance floor.
