Summary

Greg does his best to make himself comfortable in the back of the minivan by reading the “Underpants Bandits” series, about kids who steal the underpants of famous people to put them in a museum. They are not popular with adults or teachers, and are banned from school. As the day gets late, the Rodrick is sent to pick up groceries and the family must take a dirty room at a cheap motel. At the motel, it turns out that Rodrick has not purchased anything the family can eat for dinner, so Greg is sent to a vending machine to try to find nutritious snacks. He comes back with sugar wafers and breath mints.
