Point of View
This story is told from the first person point of view of Greg Heffley. The story is told in the form of a journal. For this reason the only appropriate way to tell the story is in the first person point of view. Since a good deal of the themes of the novel come from Greg telling his story in his own words, this first person point of view is ideal. However, with this first person point of view, the other characters do not get any say in the content of the novel. The reader has to take it at face value that the situations have happened as Greg writes that they have. For this reason, the story is slanted very sharply in Greg’s favor.
