Chapter VII,. Pgs. 651-701 Summary
This chapter begins with edited versions of a journal. The journal selection discusses the scorpions and Lanya returning the notebook to Kidd. She takes the poems he writes and keeps them at her home. The other scorpions are reading the paper. The articles is about the popularity of Black Orchids.
A letter discusses why a resident of Bellona says he will not read the poems. The writer of the letter says he knows he will meet the author. The letter is signed by Roger Calkins. Kidd goes on writing and remains living at the nest. The scorpions are sitting around talking with Tak about the kind of people that can and can't live in Bellona. They discuss sex.
The next morning, the scorpions talk about who they slept with the night before.
