Summary
Chapter 27 is titled “Loving Dewey.” Vicki spent several days in Florida with family for the wedding. She broke down and cried several times and leaned into family for comfort. With Vicki away from the library, no one else felt they could speak to the media, and a brief statement issued by Kim became “Dewey's public obituary” (260). News outlets around the world ran stories about Dewey's death. Condolences flooded in from all over the world. Giving in to the public's need for a service, staff members arranged a gathering in mid-December.
