Summary
In Chapter 10, labeled “Eleven weeks after conception” (281), Reese attends a doTERRA party thrown by a friend of Katrina’s. Katrina had explained to Reese that doTERRA was an essential oils company and that the party would involve a presentation. Once there, Reese ends up involved in a conversation with Kathy, the woman who is throwing the party. Reese observes that another woman is wearing a crisp cream-colored skirt, which she thinks is audacious, as cream is less forgiving of stains than white.
As the presentation begins, the women are asked to write down ailments they suffer from. Reese is surprised at how personal some of the women are with the conditions they share, such as lack of sex drive and mental illness. She wonders how they can trust that there is not a “judgmental bitch” (288) among them, and then considers that she herself is...
