Summary

At the beginning of Chapter 8, which takes place “Three years before conception” (233), Amy suspected that Reese was still seeing Stanley. She had been following Reese’s location during the day on her phone. One day, Amy saw that Reese had gone to Williamsburg. Amy called an Uber to go to Reese’s location, and a young man in a BMW picked her up.

The BMW reminded Amy of how, in high school, she had a crush on the girl who was captain of the field hockey team. She made out with the girl at a party, and later the girl gathered Amy together with her friends to explain to her that she did not want a boyfriend.
