Summary

At the beginning of Chapter 5, which takes place “Seven weeks after conception” (155), Reese has met Ames at his apartment. They are planning on going to the GLAAD Media Awards gala, where they will meet Katrina. Reese has been crying in the closet because its smell has reminded her of when she moved in with Amy and how hopeful she was. She feels that hope always brings disappointment.

Katrina and Ames have acquired admission to the awards through their agency, which has purchased tickets because they have partnered with Ketel One, which sponsors the awards.
