Part III, Chapter 2 Summary

After everyone tells their stories, Audrey tells her story. Audey is described as a tall woman wearing a sexy, if somewhat soiled dress. This dress keeps playing at Tom's mind, and he remembers being attracted to her when she first came to town. He was called out to her house to care for her horse, Sally. He does not ever remember seeing her in anything but jeans.

Audrey's story is somewhat confusing. She is an engineer, but on the day of all the destruction, she was going to meet the comptroller of the company at the mining headquarters and decided to dress up. She had missed most of the mayhem in town because she had gone camping in the wilderness, accompanied only by her horse.
