Chapters 18 and 19 Summary
In Chapter 18, Buck and Marcel go over the plans to get Marcel and Georgiana out of Greece. Meanwhile, Chang that even though the stewards on Carpathia's plane passed their lie detector tests, he still wants to have them charged with treason in order to send a message to whoever is causing his security problems. In Greece, Laslos wishes that he could go to America with the teens. Back on Carpathia's plane, Akbar tells Carpathia about the disappearance of the troops that advanced on Petra. Carpathia laughs in disbelief. When he realizes Akbar is serious, Carpathia calls for a meeting of all of the potentates worldwide. He tells Akbar nothing should be said of the failed operation. They instead accuse the soldiers in the operation as being AWOL.
