Summary
Chapter 20 flashes back to Angela, Sean, and Grant’s first morning back in Wisconsin following Caitlin’s disappearance. The three of them were all emotionally distant. Grant said that he wished he believed in God so he could blame God for Caitlin’s disappearance. In Chapter 21, Sean is sleeping in a room with Tom Carl’s house when Tom Carl’s 15-year-old daughter wakes Sean. As se propositions Sean for sex, Tom Carl enters and forces Sean to leave the premises. Chapter 22 flashes back to the day of Caitlin’s disappearance, after she entered the unfamiliar man’s car. The man began to drive away with her, and he knocked her unconscious by hitting her. Chapter 23 shifts to Emmet’s house just after Grant and Maria have had sex. Billy has arrived outside the house with friends, and they begin to make much noise...
