Devil's Bathtub
Devil's Bathtub is symbolic of tragedy. Throughout the majority of the novel, repeated mentions of Devil's Bathtub unnerve Demon because this is where his father died. In Chapters 57 and 58, Demon decides to go to the place with his friends, because he feels worthless and alone. Ultimately the place begets the same fate for Fast and Hammer as it did for Demon's father. In this way, the place is both an omen and a symbol of tragedy, death, and loss.
Drawing
For Demon, drawing is symbolic of balance. In a world in which nothing is predictable or stable, Demon learns to rely upon his drawing for comfort and grounding. Drawing grants Demon a psychological escape, and ultimately ushers him towards a new and better future.
