Chapter 9: Truthsong Summary
NIta starts the story from the beginning, telling them about the book from the library filled with instructions about wizardry, and continues on through to the first trial and the night when darkness was loosed on Manhattan. She tells them that had she and Kit not intervened, eternal night and darkness might have been the future. She tells them about Advisory and Senior wizards; about places where there is either only day, or only night;and when Nita's memory fails, Kit takes over. Her parents never say a word. Frustrated, Kit decides a demonstration is in order. Without moving, he levitates until he is about two feet above the chair he was sitting in. After a minute, Nita's father concludes that somehow he has been hypnotized. Six feet above the floor, Kit disagrees. He suggests that they talk to each other...
