Chapter 3: Senior's Song Summary
Dairine turns off Nita's alarm at six the next morning and Nita is surprised to discover that their parents are already up. When Dairine adds that they got up to surprise their children with a fishing trip, Nita is almost ill. Nita hates lying to her parents, telling Dairine that she can't possible tell them that she had planned to be turned into whales who are on a mission to save Long Island. Dairine is silent, as what Nita told her sinks in. Then she tells Nita to have breakfast, and be happy. Kit is already, her Dad tells her, and she lets him think it is to go fishing, like her.
