Summary

Johnson goes to see Virgil in the hospital in Chapter 11. The first thing he notices is the apparatus that is on Virgil’s nose that he has to wear during the healing process. Johnson tells him people in the town know what happened and Virgil tells him who he is looking for. Johnson does not think Jesse has anything to do with the assault and says that he will see what he can find out. Then they talk about the murder investigation. Virgil wants to talk to Marvin Hines next but does not get to until the next morning. That evening, he has dinner with Clarice and Johnson and they discuss the case.

When he talks to Hines, the conversation leads Virgil to the woman who was her closest friend, Margot Moore. They talk about Corbel whom Margot also had a fling with...
