Chapter 19, Man o' War Summary

Houston survives the sinking of the Gibraltar, but dies on the deck of the USS Hickman when they take a direct hit. Jack leaves in the Nautilus, conserving as much power as he can for the long trip. Part of the way there he is ambushed by Spangler in the Navy's Perseus. They battle in and out of the maze of canyons until finally Jack manages to trap David under a rock fall. Karen calls the Fathom asking if they have heard from Cortez, and finding out they haven't, she realizes that something has gone wrong. David's men force themselves aboard the Fathom while evacuation of the Neptune base is being completed. All but Karen and Rolfe are gone. David escapes the trap Jack set for him by ejecting in an emergency escape pod. He only makes...
