Chapter 18, Dark Matters Summary
Nafe listens to his Joint Chief's report. They are all telling him the same thing. Military bases in Hawaii are slow to respond because of the earthquakes, and they are fighting a battle with one hand tied behind their back. Nafe asks for an educated opinion as to what they should do and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, General Hickman tells him there is only one option. He recommends a limited nuclear response. Nafe does nothing to discourage the action.
Miyuki, Mwahu and Gabriel translate the crystal and the platinum book Horon-ko was holding. Part of it is the story of their history of how they first found and revered the crystal, and how an eclipse changed everything, bringing with it a flood that sounds remarkably like the story of Noah's Ark.
