Chapter 10, Thunder Summary
Spangler checks with his crew and confirms there are no suspicions that his man tampered with the black box before the NTSB examined it. In the hangar space, pieces of Air Force One are laid out in quadrants, each one overseen by his men in offices from above. NTSB investigator Ed Weintraub discovers that the one damaged black box is magnetized. David gets a call from Ruzickov telling him to proceed to stage two and he assembles his team. Using Chinese timers and detonators from the black market, they replace the original jade bust with a replica that has an explosive inside. Ed Weintraub shows up before they can finish so David rearranges his plans. He smothers Weintraub and places his body beside the bust. The explosion is set to go off at midnight.
