Hercule Poirot
Hercule Poirot is Belgian. He is a famous investigator responsible for solving some of the toughest cases in the country and even the world. He's an older gentlemen in his 50s or 60s. He is not married and doesn't have any children.
He is financially independent however. He has the disposable income to vacation and work when he wishes. During the novel, he decides to take a vacation to Egypt. This trip happens to coincide with some murders that take place aboard a ship that Poirot is sailing up the Nile.
Poirot's keen senses and attention to detail are what helps him to solve his murder cases, robberies and other mysteries. At first, Poirot gets off on the wrong foot during the investigation aboard the ship. By the end of the novel, however, he has put all of the minute details together to find the people responsible...
