Summary
Mr. Pennington assures them that he's been below deck in this room writing letters. When they ask how it happens his gun was used to kill Mrs. Otterbourne, Pennington says that he made it clear to the passengers that he carried a gun during a conversation that took place when they first boarded the ship. When Poirot returns to the doctor's cabin, Cornelia and Jackie are still wondering how the shooter could have gotten away without them seeing him. Poirot says he could have swung himself down below. Ferguson proposes to Cornelia, but Cornelia denies him. Ferguson also announces that Cornelia's father was one of the men that lost all his money because of Linnet's father. Ferguson goes to Miss Van Schuyler to ask for Cornelia's hand in marriage. Miss Van Schuyler says disapproving things because of Ferguson's social status. When Ferguson leaves, Poirot tells Miss...
