Summary
Colonel Race comes in to Hercule Poirot cabin to tell him that Linnet Doyle was shot in the head the previous night. Hercule and the colonel go to Linnet's cabin, where the find the doctor examining Linnet's dead body. Hercule points out that Linnet, as she was dying, wrote the initial J in her own blood. Hercule says he thinks Linnet was writing the initial of her murderer. As Hercule tells the doctor that Jackie threatened to shoot Linnet in the head with her little pistol, the doctor explains that it was impossible for Jackie to do so. Then the doctor tells Hercule and the colonel about Mr. Doyle being shot by Jackie and Jackie receiving morphine and sleeping it off in her room with the nurse. Hercule and the colonel use the saloon to question Cornelia and Mr. Fanthorp about what happened the previous night...
