Summary
Hercule follows Simon out of the hotel the next day and asks to join him on his walk. Simon says that he knows his wife spoke to Hercule the night before. Simon uses the same simile Jackie used to explain why he fell in love with Linnet - the sun and moon simile. Hercule warns Simon that Jackie is carrying a gun but Simon says he doesn't believe Jackie would use it. Simon tells Hercule how he spread a rumor that he and Linnet are staying at the hotel for 10 days, but he has booked passage on a ship under assumed names so that Jackie can't find them. When Hercule mentions that eventually Jackie's small amount of money will run out and she'll have to stop following them, this point seems to make Simon uncomfortable. Hercule tells Simon that he is booked on the same ship...
