Family

Tempe's sister comes to see her in Montreal when Harry begins taking classes with a seminar on counseling. It is clear to the reader from the first moments that Tempe and her sister are not close because they are so different. Tempe is a professional woman, calm and sophisticated, while Harry is impetuous and flighty. Despite this, however, Tempe loves her sister and is happy to share her home with her. When Harry begins to show signs of depression, Tempe misses it out of anger with her sister for flirting with Ryan, a man about whom Tempe is trying hard not to care. Eventually Tempe becomes aware that Harry has disappeared, about to become a victim of a doomsday cult she and Ryan are investigating. Suddenly Tempe is willing to do almost anything to save her sister, even when it means putting herself at risk.
