Dr. Temperance
Dr. Temperance Brennan, or Tempe, is an anthropologist who is a professor on the staff of the University of North Carolina in Charlotte. Tempe also works with the coroner's office in Montreal, helping whenever a skeletons needs to be analyzed. In this novel, Tempe is working two cases at once. The larger case is that of a house fire in St-Jovite, Quebec, that exposes the murders of seven people. Tempe does the exhumation of a set of bones found in the basement of the house and the examination of the bones. Tempe also assists on the autopsy of two infants found in an outbuilding on the property. The other case Tempe is working on is that of Sister Elisabeth Nicolet, a nun at the turn of the century who has become the subject of an application for sainthood.
