Chapters 9-13 Summary
In chapter 9, Professor Jeannotte gives Tempe a stack of books that reference the Nicolet family as well as a journal written by the uncle of Elisabeth Nicolet in hopes Tempe might find what she needs. Professor Jeannotte also suggests that Tempe look in the newspapers published at the time for a birth announcement. Before Tempe leaves, she asks Professor Jeannotte about the rumor that Anna is involved with a satanic cult. Professor Jeannotte gives Tempe a lecture about the nature of a cult and the misnomer that makes people assume they are evil or violent. Ryan calls Tempe later that night and asks her out to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, but she turns him down. In chapter 10, Harry, Tempe's sister, arrives at her office. Harry tells Tempe that she is in Montreal to attend a seminar for a new counseling career...
