Summary

In Chapter 23, Zoe surprises him by inviting his mother over to dinner with her parents without telling them. The Murphys assume that Evan has told his mother about them and Zoe, but his mother does not know anything about their relationship. The Murphys announce that they would like to use Connor’s college savings to pay for Evan to go to school, and Evan’s mother, embarrassed, refuses the offer and leaves to go to work. When Evan gets home, his mother is waiting for him. They argue and Evan tells her that the Murphys are more there for him than she has ever been.
