39 Summary
The unidentified writer is angry at Camelia, feeling she has betrayed him. The writer explains that he pretended the pajama pants were Camelia, and he was poised above her with the knife. He says he was startled by his behavior, but then realized that the message on the mirror and the shredded pants were everything Camelia wants, but that she doesn't know what's good for her the way he does.
39 Analysis
The writer/stalker reveals that he ripped the pajama pants to shreds, pretending they were Camelia. The idea of violence has spilled out into physical action, meaning the writer/stalker is losing grip on reality, and leaving his own mind to physically enter Camelia's world. By this time, it appears as if Camelia will meet with a horrible demise.
