Chapter Three Summary
Sookie is awakened by a phone call from Sam asking her to stop by Dawn's house and see why she has not come to work for two days. Unhappy about the chore, Sookie dresses and heads to Dawn's house. Outside, Sookie notices that the pine pollen on the porch has not been disturbed. Rene Lenier calls from across the street, wondering if Sookie needs help and seems angry that Sam did not come and check on Dawn himself. Sookie walks to the back of the house and looks in the bedroom window to see Dawn's body sprawled on the bed. Telling Rene to call the police and then Sam, Sookie stands outside the window, unwilling to look in again.
