Sookie Stackhouse

Sookie Stackhouse is the main character of the novel. Sookie is an ordinary human who has been tied in with various supernatural creatures including vampires, "were" animals, shape shifters, and fae.

Sookie is a blonde woman in her late twenties. She lives in a house she inherited. Sookie works as a waitress at Merlotte’s a restaurant/bar. Sookie recently bought into the bar with the owner Sam, making her a minor partner.

Sookie is gifted – or cursed – with the gift of telepathy. The gift was given to her by her grandfather’s friend and her godfather, Mr. Cataliades. Sookie has also inherited from her godmother, Claudine.

Sookie’s relationships are somewhat complicated. Eric is Sookie’s vampire husband and lover. Sam is Sookie’s best friend. The men do not like each other which makes life difficult for Sookie.
