Summary

In "Botch Behemoth," Botch moves through the holding ponds, gleaming. He saw a reflection from a house window. The house was on fire. He did not even know what a house was. He was as fixed as a land formation. He moved through the water and waited for other creatures. He found no life, nor meaning.

He grew continually larger. First, he became Botch, then he became Behemoth. The ponds grew smaller as the drought worsened. He found little food; time barely existed. The Company's presence was everywhere. Behemoth had conquered many enemies and beasts in the past; he had many scars. In the deep mud, he found small fish that existed in no exact reality. Behemoth heard singing and thought it was himself. He wanted to eat the stars. All the Company wanted of him was that he devour...
