Summary
In "The Dream of the Blue Fox," three travelers moved between worlds, scavenging the wrecked land. The voice of their leader, the blue fox, reverberated. The travelers did not understand; they wanted to be wild. The blue fox prophesied the arrival of City scavengers, of the Company, of the Company’s monsters.
In "The Three," the three, Grayson, Chen, and Moss, arrived at the crumbled City. Grayson was ageless; her dead eye let her see premonitions. Chen came from a place that no longer existed. Moss was without origin, shifted shapes. They were meant to destroy the Company, save the future. Having lived many lives, the three were growing tired. The Company detected them; the land swirled with danger. When they made this journey alone, they often died; together they were unafraid.
