Jesus's Cheese
The mysterious cheese that arrives in Hot Sausage's basement is a symbol of the idea of the rewards of faith. As Sister Paul eventually reveals, the initial source of the cheese was brought on by her adhering to her own Christian values: kindness and generosity to strangers, or specifically the Elephant's father. However, with the elder Elefante deceased and the cheese still arriving, it has also grown to represent an unknown miracle; one not to be questioned but appreciated.
