Summary

Sister Gee is weeding the Church garden, sees Potts come by, and the two start to joke and flirt with each other. Potts explains that Earl was arrested, and points out that Sister Gee must know him, since she took him to the subway. He points out that closing the subway, however briefly, is illegal. Sister Gee says that it was only ten minutes, and that she hadn’t planned to harm Earl, just make sure he stayed away from the Cause. Potts tells her she should have called the police, but Sister Gee points out that the police “don’t watch out for us…[but] watch over us” (212).
