Summary
Out of the 16 people that witnessed Sportcoat shoot Deems, not one said anything to the police about it. Even undercover police officer Jethro “Jet” Hardman, in disguise as a janitor, did not. Jet is 22, the first black detective to go undercover at the projects. Jet had been working on Deems for seven months, discovering that Deems was a low-level dealer of a much larger drug network owned by notorious Italian criminal Joe Peck. Jet’s old partner, 59-year-old Irish Sgt. Kevin “Potts” Mullen warns Jet to get out of the assignment, but Jet is unable to. Jet is mistrustful of most of his fellow officers, with the exception of Potts.
